Day 2 - Sponsored by John and Elaine Bosin

Because of the mechanical problem, I had a later start than plannned and therefore had to shorten the route. After Phil at sprockets tuned up my bike, Pam drove me, by car, out of town and put me on course for a 55-mile ride to Monterey. The route went through strawberry fields, acres of artichokes and stretches of sand dunes! Sea lions were sunbathing on docks and beaches, the wind at times was fears and the sun stood high in the sky. For lunch I met Kelly and Matt who were on their final days cycling down from Seattle. We off-and-on rode together and that night camped at the hiker biker camp ground in Veterans park in Monterey! Several other cyclist joined our camp for the night and we would meet again each night at hiker biker camp grounds down the coast.
