Day 3 - Sponsored by Mary Ann and Bill Valade

For the next several days I had to catch up on the forty miles lost due to the late start the day before. By 6:30 in the morning my paniers were packed and back on the bike. Hiker biker camp was still asleep, so there were no goodbyes. I chose to take the scenic route along Pebble beach, adding a seventeen mile detour. It was definetly worth the extra distance. Onward the roller coaster ride followed the coast to Big Sur where the long uphills slowed me to a 6-mile per hour pace. At every turn the hills kept going higher and higher until finally "the reward" of a close to 40-mile per hour meandering downhill. What a thrill! By 7:30 pm, after 102 miles, I made it to Kirk creek hiker biker camp. No potable water, no showers!
